Speed Bumps in residential areas
I am so sick and tired of the clever people who think these things up. Some idiot decided that putting speed bumps in residential areas will make things safer and stop people from speeding. ( Dumb ass)
All of these speed bumps are placed in the shade with little or no markings so you cannot see them. I cannot count the amount of times I almost hit one at 40-60 km/h. Let me tell you if you hit a speed bump at that speed you could have a nasty accident. They will tell you that they have little warning signs on either side of the speed bump.....ha do you drive around looking at the side of the road, I certainly do not.
I then ask the question , why the hell are these speed bumps in the middle of just any old street for no particular reason. I live opposite a school and no speed bumps but drive down to the next street of no significance and wow 3 in one short road.
I am waiting for the day that this kills someone and it will eventually, it has not slowed anybody down as they tend to learn were the speed bumps are anyway eventually it is just you who is new to the area that will be shocked by a lurking bump. I must say I have often forgotten about them and almost hit them.
Between toll roads and speed bumps I just cannot believe who thinks these things up but have you seen the new complicated on and off ramp systems in Pretoria incredible how everybody misses each other. Lets be honest what the hell was wrong with the simple turn left or right to get on or off the highway?
I don't say our roads are bad I mean we now have 4 lane highways so the trucks can drive in 4 lanes side by side now so more space for them and we have great traffic lights with arrows all over the place so the guy behind can hoot cos he thinks he should be on the move and the roads are wider so you cannot fall off.....or can you? Oh yes of course the roads are wider so buses and trucks can overtake on a blind rise.
I think they should simply come and remove all the speed bumps and take all the gates down so we can drive were we need to without been stopped because we don't live there and become normal again.
